To carry on our success in finding new products, of the 8,000 employees working in Belgium, we have 1,800 people working in research & development (R&D) dedicated to finding new ways to improve the treatment of diseases and illnesses.

In recent years, GSK has carried out an average of 80 to 90 clinical studies annually in Belgium from Phase I to Phase III. These studies were distributed over more than 200 research centres where between 2,000 and 2,500 patients were followed in various therapeutic areas, including respiratory disorders, vaccines, HIV, infectious diseases and immunological disorders, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, etc.
