What makes you, you?
My parents invested money in my education (they did not have) which gave me a great sense to learn and grow while living with ethical principles/values. When I was 16, I participated in projects aiming at improving the medical care environment and education in Africa/India and was for the first time exposed to the burden of Malaria and Tuberculosis – that took patience, determination and teamwork – qualities I’ve brought to my work and above all passion for improving the health and well-being of people around the world and contributing to the development of life-saving vaccines.
I am a positive thinker and a fan of water sports.
What’s the best thing about working here ?
As a large (flexible) organisation in a growing environment, the opportunities are countless and very broad (as my moves from Pharma to Vaccines and R&D to Business Development testify). Every time I’ve thought that I could not learn any more, I was provided with great opportunities for new learning and further contributing to improve the health and well-being of people around the world.
What are your highlights ?
After my PhD in Medicine in parasitology, I spent 10 years in the Pharma/Vaccine field including 3 years at GSK – running a R&D preclinical team in broad disease fields (Oncology, Infectious disease & Virology), undertaking Project leader roles and as Head of R&D successfully contributing to the round of investment of a small biotech company (Vaccine & Diagnostics). After my preclinical/Project Lead role in GSK Vaccines, I was then given the opportunity to develop a special project in the Operational Team to support the Business Development Department and the support functions (Legal, Finance, Global Patents) as well as R&D. Creating something from scratch was an immense learning curve – but a chance to contribute to the development of the organisation. I have managed the conclusion of key alliances and was assigned a role to support the acquisition/integration team. I am now on an assignment in the Business Development (Transactions Team)
How have we support your development ?
I have had excellent line managers, coach/mentors who have been extremely valuable to help me developing my capabilities. My roles and secondments in the Business Development department have also stretched me and continue to do so with a very recent 6-month assignment on Ebola.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us ?
You’ll be able to experience what talent management means if you are open to new challenges and to take on tasks that will help developing you as a Leader. In addition, you will be proud to be given the opportunity to improve the health and well-being of people around the world and contribute to the efforts made to protect the population in the poorest regions of the world to reduce death.
