Country Manager ViiV Belgium

 Why did you come to GSK? What attracted you to work for GSK?

 When I got the call from GSK, I was very attracted by the perspective of personal development in a big, international company covering multiple key therapy areas. During the 10+ years and 8 different roles in the organization – first in GSK and more recently in ViiV - I stayed confident that I made the right choice.

 What’s the best thing about working at GSK? What do you like most about working at GSK?

 I feel proud of having the opportunity to make a positive impact in people’s lives, every day. With every vaccine that is administered, with every HIV therapy that is taken, with every respiratory medicine that is inhaled or injected, we contribute to making people’s lives better. Besides this, as a leader, I also have the opportunity to make a positive impact in my team’s lives – supporting their performance and development. This gives me a strong sense of purpose.

 How has GSK supported your career development?

By offering me the opportunities and challenges to keep learning and keep growing. During my journey in GSK, in different roles and therapy areas, I met inspiring people that I am learning from, that are contributing to my professional and personal development.

 What are your highlights at GSK?

 I joined in 2008, as a Brand Manager in GSK Romania, after 8 years of marketing experience in several industries. With focus on people, performance and development, I kept on learning and growing – starting my people management experience in 2011 and then increasing responsibilities as Business Unit Manager in several therapy areas (vaccines, dermatology, respiratory).

In 2014, it was time to expand the breadth of my experience internationally – so I moved to Sweden, where I became a member of the leadership team and led the Respiratory business unit, focusing on the launches of 2 key respiratory brands – Relvar and Anoro. My journey in the Nordic countries continued with an above-country marketing role for Seretide and Relvar, then a leadership role in Denmark – where I led the Respiratory team during the launches of Trelegy and Nucala.

Since August 2018, I embarked on an exciting journey as Country Manager for ViiV Healthcare Belgium and Luxembourg – working with a small but very motivated team to drive innovation in the treatment of HIV and reach our goal of not leaving any person living with HIV behind.

 How would you describe the culture at GSK?

We have a dynamic, open and inclusive culture, driven by our values – patient focus, transparency, respect and integrity. 

 What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a manager?

 I learn a lot from my team and colleagues every day and find this very rewarding. One of the key lessons was about the importance of listening vs. acting: good leaders take the time to listen before getting into action mode; not only does this lead to making informed decisions, but it also shows empathy, builds trust and facilitates the adoption of change in the team.

 What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?

I strongly recommend GSK as an employer – for focusing on driving innovation in the benefit of patients, for having strong values guiding our decisions, for investing in the development of our people.

With the right focus on performance and development, you can build a strong career path in GSK. In 10 years, I evolved from a Brand Manager role to a Country Manager role, increased the breadth of my experience in 5 different therapy areas and 4 countries… and the journey continues.
