Gembloux, 24 juin 2024 – GSK, MG Real Estate en Yusen Logistics Benelux huldigen vandaag een nieuw farmaceutisch magazijn in het Waalse Gembloers in. Het gebouw van 40.000 m² - het grootste biofarmaceutische logistieke centrum van Wallonië - is uitgerust met innovatieve technologieën zoals autonome mobiele robots, geautomatiseerde verpakkingssystemen en sorteerapparatuur. Het grootste farmaceutische bedrijf van België zal er miljoenen vaccins en grondstoffen opslaan en exporteren naar meer dan 160 landen. Het magazijn wordt 100% aangedreven door groene energie en gecertificeerd volgens de BREEAM-norm ‘uitstekend’. De opening vond plaats in aanwezigheid van Willy Borsus, vice-president van de Waalse regering en minister van Economie & Onderzoek.
\nDit nieuwe logistieke centrum is het grootste in Wallonië en in het wereldwijde netwerk van GSK. Na de positieve uitkomst van de recente audit door de Belgische gezondheidsautoriteiten, dankzij het harde werk van de teams, zal het centrum in de eerste week van juli operationeel zijn. Het centrum, met een waarde van 50 miljoen euro, kan tot 42.000 pallets herbergen. Afhankelijk van de vereisten kunnen deze op verschillende temperaturen worden opgeslagen, dankzij de koelruimte van 7.000 m² en het vriescompartiment van 700 m². Geavanceerde technologieën zoals autonome mobiele robots, zelfbesturende voertuigen en sorteerapparatuur zullen GSK helpen om grondstoffen te beheren en vaccins efficiënt te verdelen naar meer dan 160 landen. Daardoor zullen dagelijks 1 miljoen dosissen vaccins worden geëxporteerd.
\nHoewel het laden en lossen van goederen handmatig zal blijven gebeuren, zal het werk van de werknemers worden vergemakkelijkt door de invoering van een \"goods-to-persons\"-proces. Daarbij worden goederen automatisch door robots verzameld, zonder dat de werknemers zich hoeven te verplaatsen. Shuttle-apparaten met een hoge capaciteit, automatische verpakkingssystemen en sorteermachines zullen ook worden gebruikt.
\nHet centrum is ontworpen om te voldoen aan de hoogste normen van milieuduurzaamheid en zal worden gecertificeerd volgens de BREEAM*-norm ‘uitstekend’. Het zal worden aangedreven door 100% groene energie, onder andere dankzij zonnepanelen die het hele gebouw bedekken en een intelligent energiebeheersysteem. Deze duurzame keuzes zullen bijdragen aan GSK's doel om tegen 2025 volledig op hernieuwbare elektriciteit te werken en tegen 2030 een netto positieve impact op de natuur te hebben.
\nGeautomatiseerde processen voor weg- en zeetransport en semi-geautomatiseerde voorbereidingen voor luchttransport zorgen voor kortere levertijden en meer flexibiliteit om te voldoen aan de behoeften van patiënten over de hele wereld.
